Lileks

James Lileks: I don't agree with everything he says (for example, see his opinion on the Le Carré piece), but he says it intelligently and with (biting) humour. The rest of his writing is just wickedly ascerbic. And he has a two-and-a-half year daughter that he loves very much. Always nice to read daddy-baby stories :-)

Agreed. I've wanted to spend more time reading Lileks but generally read only that which fits in with my world view [well, I've never claimed to be unusual]. That which I have read of his is damnably frustrating as he proves there is intelligent life in the conservative fold. As for his sense of humor, I've intended pointing people to it on many occasions but have yet to do so. I think my mask of intolerance towards the right sometimes holds me back. I'd not like to include Lileks with the usual bunch of warmongers I take so much pleasure in slandering with abandon. He's just too damned human and perceptive.
